Is your child ready for their first dental appointment? Have they already started school? Are they beginning to think about college? At Dentistry By Brand, we welcome all children into our dental office to experience our comfortable and comprehensive approach to dental care. Our entire dental team will ensure that your little (or not so little) one feels completely relaxed during their appointments while we protect them from cavities, guide their oral development, and fix any problems that pop up along the way. If your child requires more hands on attention, we also partner with pediatric dentistry specialists in the area. We can’t wait to meet both of you, and you can schedule an appointment by giving us a call today.
Your child’s routine preventive visits will be completely tailored to their age, personality, and specific dental needs. Young children will receive a brief checkup and cleaning, and over time as a child matures, their appointments will begin to more closely resemble your own. In addition to checking for cavities and gum disease and cleaning their teeth, we’ll spend time during every visit talking about the best ways they can take care of their smile at home so they form healthy habits as early as possible.
Dental sealants are used to protect particularly vulnerable areas of the teeth from decay, namely, the chewing surfaces of the back teeth. Because of their location and wide, flat surfaces, these teeth are the perfect traps for plaque, and they can be quite tricky to clean as well (particularly for small children). We can cover these teeth with a thin, invisible layer of composite resin to prevent any plaque or bacteria from harming the enamel. They only take minutes to apply but can easily last for 10 years or more.
Fluoride is a natural and very effective way to reduce someone’s risk of cavities, but for children, it’s even more helpful. Regular exposure to fluoride can aid in the development of the adult teeth even before they come in! That’s why, whenever your child comes to see us for a checkup, we’ll briefly coat their teeth with a highly-concentrated fluoride solution. This will both strengthen their enamel and fix any areas of minor damage at the same time.
