Get Your Dental Crown Before Your Benefits Expire

Dentist discussing dental crown with patientIf your dentist has advised you to get a dental crown, you should not put off the procedure. Waiting too long to get your restoration can cause the underlying problem to worsen, which may result in the loss of your tooth. However, the UIC College of Dentistry reports that 80% of Americans consider delaying dental work because of cost concerns. If you have dental insurance, there’s no reason to worry about large bills. Your benefits will cover some of the costs when getting a dental crown, but time is running out to use your coverage.

Dental Insurance Benefits Expire

Your premiums give you access to comprehensive benefits that are designed to keep your mouth healthy to reduce your overall dental expenses. Unfortunately, your dental insurance does not last forever.

Your benefits will reset at the end of the year, and you’ll lose anything you have not used. Nothing will accumulate, and you won’t be reimbursed for your premiums or deductibles. With less than 3% of Americans meeting or exceeding their annual limits, don’t throw money away. Now is the time to maximize your remaining benefits to get the high-quality crown you need.

How Dental Insurance Works

Dental insurance focuses on prevention to stop common oral health issues from occurring, like cavities and gum disease. However, your benefits also provide coverage for common dental services, like crowns. Although every policy differs, most include:

  • 100% of Preventive Dental Care
  • 80% of Basic Dental Services
  • 50% of Major Dental Work

You can visit your dentist every 6 months for a cleaning and checkup for a co-payment. You also have coverage for basic and major dental work. Your dental insurance will cover 50% to 80% of the expense of your restoration after meeting your annual deductible if it is medically necessary. Your benefits may also cover your consultation, diagnostic services, and any preliminary procedures, like a root canal. Your dental team will help you utilize your coverage to lower the amount you pay out-of-pocket.

You have multiple options to keep the remaining balance affordable, like monthly installments through a third-party financing company, such as CareCredit. Based on your credit approval, you could pay little or no interest in financing to keep your restoration within your budget.

You have paid for your dental insurance, so why not use it? Schedule an appointment to get your dental crown before time runs out.
